The night before

  • Confirm the exam time, room and seat number
  • Pack: pens, pencils, eraser, ruler, calculator (checked, spare batteries)
  • Water bottle and snack, per the exam rules
  • Clothes laid out, alarm set (two alarms)

The morning of

  • Normal breakfast; nothing new or heavy
  • No last-minute cramming: error-log skim at most, 15 minutes
  • Leave early; arriving early is free confidence

The first five minutes of the exam

  • Write your name before anything else
  • Read the instructions twice: they change every year
  • Scan the whole paper and plan your minutes per question
  • Start with a question you know cold, to settle the nerves

Tutor tip: Most exam-day mark losses are logistical, not knowledge failures. A student who arrives early with the right equipment and a pacing plan has already banked marks before the first question.
