The Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) is the senior schooling credential Queensland students earn, typically across Years 11 and 12, with results feeding ATAR university entry.
How students earn it
Students build the QCE by completing enrolled subjects and courses and accumulating the required learning at a passing standard (a 'literal' 20-credit pattern across the senior years). General subjects that can contribute to an ATAR include Maths Methods, Specialist Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English and more.
QCE and ATAR
Earning the QCE and receiving an ATAR are related but separate: the ATAR comes from senior subject results through Queensland's tertiary admissions centre. Strong weekly performance in General subjects from Year 11 is what builds competitive results.
