What is the IB MYP?

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is the International Baccalaureate's framework for ages 11-16, offered by many international schools in Dubai, the Gulf and worldwide, bridging primary school into the Diploma Programme.
How the MYP works
Students study eight subject groups (language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical education, design) connected by interdisciplinary units and a personal project in the final year. Assessment is criterion-based, with optional eAssessment for an IB-validated certificate in the final year.
How it prepares for the Diploma
The MYP builds exactly the skills the Diploma demands: research, structured writing, self-management and interdisciplinary thinking. Students finishing the MYP typically enter the DP knowing how to handle its workload, which is a genuine advantage over students arriving from exam-only systems.
