From there children move to reading the Mushaf (nazra), applying tajweed rules as they go. Hifz (memorisation) follows a separate track with daily sabaq, recent revision and old revision, sized to the child's pace. Six to nine months of consistent Qaida work is a typical route to first Mushaf reading for a young beginner.
